GUIDELINES FOR WINNING FAMILY TALE SUBMISSIONS
A winning family story is a fiction or non-fiction story about family relationships, family members, personal memories, family myths, family origins or the black sheep of the family.
The stories we publish will elicit emotions that inspire, amuse, and touch our hearts. We are looking for stories that help readers identify basic truths about their own lives.
The stories in our collection will excite the five senses and make the reader feel a part of the action. All good stories have a beginning, middle and an end. Often the ending evokes strong emotions that resonate with the reader and linger in the memory.
FORMULA FOR FAMILY TALES
1) We prefer stories in the first person, but third person is acceptable.
2) All stories must be typed and double spaced.
3) Story length should be 1000-3000 words, (4-12 double spaced pages)
4) All submissions should be about family situations and family members, present or past.
5) All stories should include character description, dialogue, a sense of personality, action.
6) All stories should be touching, heartwarming and/or humorous.
Authors of accepted stories will receive a contract and will be required to submit their submissions electronically at that time.
All authors of accepted stories will receive full acknowledgement, the joy of seeing your work in print and a $50 honorarium.
